Our Halloween Art

We decided to paint some halloween pictures the other day, and what better canvas than our slidding glass door. They kids had so much fun!
Here is my haunted house.

Kylee's skeleton with piggy tails =)Tyler's mouse....no really, it's a mouse.
Baily's art work. She said it was ghost.

I lost Baily today

I realized that no one was screaming "You're a meanie-ack" (her version of meanie and maniac) and no one was saying, "Mom, Baily hit me!" (Can you guess what phase my sweet little Baily is going through) and when I went on a Baily hunt this is what I found. Baily, in her underwear, in the dress up box in her closet. Happy as a clam! Singing princess songs to herself. She let me take the picture then she wanted me to close the door and leave her there.

Many of you may have heard this classic poem, it describes my Baily to a "T"! "There was a little girl, who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead...and when she was good, she was very, very good...but when she was bad, she was HORRID!"

The other day, my mom, who is always very polite said, "How can someone with such an angelic smile have such an attitude!" Amen to that! I love my Baily, but you better watch out!

I knew the day would come

I always knew the day would come when my kids would be smarter than me...I just didn't think it would come this soon! Kylee will be 8 in April. She has always been a smart girl. I know what you are thinking "everyone says that about their kids", but she really is smart, and I take NO credit for that. (My husband has great brains!)

Lately she has been saying things to me like,

"Hey Mom, I bet you don't know the answer to this question, 'What do you call it when two numbers have the same sum no matter which way you add them.'" I had NO idea. It's the commutative law, for those of you who don't know. (come on people get with the program!! If you did know the answer to that question don't' tell me it will just make me feel stupider.)

Then today she says, "Mom, I will ask you a question and you say yes if you know the answer and no if you don't. 'What does the equal sign mean'" Now...this one I did know.

Okay, I will admit I don't mind too much that she's already smarter than me, but I don't like her KNOWING that she is.

Good thing she is such a great helper and such a sweet kid. I will definitely keep her!

Remember that one episode of Friends...

When Joey put on every piece of clothing he owned...that's my Tyler.

We got out the fall and winter clothes and after I sorted through all of them (4 kids = a lot of clothes) Tyler got so excited about having so many new clothes and he put every single one of them on. We now refer to this as Tyler's "fat boy" pictures.

As "Gangsta" as a 3 year old princess can get!

Baily dressed herself today and decided she needed a jacket (in the 80 degree weather) and added her fabulous sunglasses. I don't know where the poses come from...she must get them from her dad....

Carrots and Popsicles count as teething toys!

My sweet Malia is teething again...I think...slobbering, fussing, chewing on everything, that's teething right? There are two things Malia loves when she is teething...
Popsicles...I just break it in half for her and it gives me 10, maybe 15 minutes of free time. She ends up with ice cold hands but numb teeth!

Carrots...Kylee is such a good sister and she will peel a carrot and give it to Malia. She LOVES them. She bites off tiny little chunks (don't worry, not big enough to choke on) of carrots that come out in her diaper the next day (TMI...I know) but it keeps her happy.

Here's my big girl standing! She is pulling herself up to everything now and even getting brave enough to let go. Good thing for padded diapers when she falls!

My answer

Okay, I just got this video clip from a friends blog (thanks Karen) just moments after I wrote the post just before this one...I am amazed at how the Lord works. This video is SO amazing...I will always be amazed at how much my Father in Heaven loves me and I thank him for the things he places in my path at percicly the exact time that I need them.

I love how the Lord doesn't always solve our problems, he just gives us PEACE, and a way to be able to keep going...

Read the post just before this one and then watch this video.

Just need to get something off my chest...

I hardly ever use this blog to post sad or negative things, but I must say that I am having one of those sad nights. One of my best buds just told me that her step mom has cancer all throughout her body and she is in stage 4, which is the worst stage and she only has a few months to live. Also, my cousin, who has already gone through chemo and lost part of her leg due to bone cancer just found out that her cancer has come back and it has spread throughout her whole body and only has a couple of months to live also.

I just can't seem to figure out...How do we balance the tiny, minute tasks that we have to deal with every day that fill up our lives and sometimes overwhelm us, with the BIG, important things...like LIFE itself and happiness and treating each other good and remembering to say I love you and do nice things for each other and making really good moments with our kids and our spouses.

Seriously, what would you do if you where told you only had a couple months to live. I would like to think that I have enough faith the be okay, but WHAT would you do. What do you fill your days with. How do you even imagine your family living without you? Sorry to be such a downer, this is just something that is weighing heavily on my mind...just needed to post and get things off my chest.

Angel Faces!!

I spend too much of my days worrying about if the house is clean, is homework done, are their clean clothes (i guess this one is kinda important...so I'm told) worry worry worry and I don't take enough time to look at my angels faces. I feel so blessed to have 4 healthy, beautiful kids. If there is one regret that I most commonly have when I lie my head down at night it is this: that I didn't take more time with my angels.

I DID ANOTHER RACE!!!

This race was much funner than the half marathon. It was a Sprint Triathlon! I started off swimming for 400 meters (8 laps), biking for 9 miles, and running for 3 miles. It was fun! It wasn't as hard as my half Marathon but it was still tough. The hardest part was transitioning from the bike to running. My legs where so numb and it took me about half a mile before I could feel them again and feel like I wasn't going to fall on my face.

It was funny because they had to write our numbers on our calf and upper arm with a fat magic markers . My kids thought that was great!

Here are some silly pics of me after the race! I am definitely going to do this race again. Who wants to do it with me!!!!

Here are my two buds that I did the race with!

My Baby Boy is a Kindergartener (sniff sniff)

Here is my cute boy! He was so excited on his first day of school! He told me once the night before that he was kinda scared of the bullies that would be at school. I thought that was sweet. It was really hard to leave him that morning in his new classroom. He is such a big boy and LOVES new adventures so I know he will do great. Good thing it is only half day kindergarten!
Here he is in his class room! Look at that happy face!

Once I said good bye to him he started to get nervous. I took this picture from out in the hall way. When Tyler gets nervous he plays with this chin...and look at those wide open eyes. He was just so brave!

Here's my silly monkey's!

The Funnies!!

I just love this comic strip. You know it's true! Sorry it's so small, you might have to click on it to read it...

I ran 13 miles and I am ALIVE to show you the PICS!

I did one of the hardest things of my life over the weekend (Besides given birth without an epidural, that is)... I ran a half marathon!! I hate to toot my own horn but I am pretty dang proud of myself. It was not so bad until the last mile and a half. The last leg of the race was a slight incline and I had walked for a minute to get an energy block and then I just had a hard time starting up again. But I did start running again, but I was so tired I didn't know how the heck I was going to run another mile and half. Thank goodness for my heaven sent friend, Sue, who is an awesome runner and finished the race before me and then turned around and came back and met me. She ran the last mile with me. She was so inspiring and helped me make it that last little bit. Here I am at the end of the race!
This picture is just seconds before crossing the finish line! I was TIRED! I ran in 2 hours and 28 minutes. That is slower than I was trying to shoot for, but I was still very proud of myself for finishing. I plan to do better next year. There is my cute friend Sue who helped me cross that finish line. I am so grateful for good friends who help me finish those tough races in life!
I reached the finish line and kinda fell into James' arms (yes...just like a romantic movie...except I was really sweaty and smelly) and then I just started crying. I was just so happy to be done and I was exhausted and overwhelmed with all my family there supporting me. My parents where there, my hubby and kids (Kylee and Baily actually ran the last little bit with me and across the finish line...I wish I had a pic of that!) My sister Tami and her hubby, and my sister Tara (she ran the race too! GO TARA!) It was a great experience! Something I would recommend to anyone!
This picture cracks me up because I can't tell what I was thinking...It is one of two things, "Why did I just do that??" or "Who will catch me when I fall."

MY 2nd GRADER...gosh I'm getting old!

Kylee's first day of 2nd grade was great! She was so excited, a little nervous, but mostly cute cute cute! I can't believe that I have two kids in school now. Tyler will start Kindergarten on Thursday!

Here's cute Kylee all ready in her cute new clothes and ready to head to school!

The kids have to wait outside on the grass until the bell rings, I waited with her and I was not ready to let her go. You'd think after three years of doing this that it would get easier. Nope!!!
Kylee at her desk! I heard one of the teachers say "Some of the parents have more seperation anxiety than the kids!" That statement couldn't be more true. It is one of the hardest things to walk out that door and leave your child at school. I just pray they will make good choices and be kind to others! One more school year...here we go!

She's MOBILE!!!

Malia is officially a crawler! It took her a couple of days to realize that the crawling can get her places... Like to my chapstick that was on the floor. It's cute to see her little adorable face peeking around corners as she makes her way around the house. A big part of our house is tile so her little knees are all red! It doesn't get any better than Malia!

My Favorite Olympian!!

I am awed and inspired by the Olympics this year and can't get enough of them. My favorite Olympian this years is definitely Michael Phelps. He is so fun to watch and such a great swimmer. Not to mention that he is the most decorated Olympian of all times and still racking in the metals. If you aren't watching the Olympics you are missing out.

RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME (Thanks Erin)

The "Random Thing" Tag Rules...
1. You link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog
3. Share six random things about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your entry
5. Let the tagged people know by leaving a comment on their blogs
6. Enjoy the results

1) I color coordinate my clothes hanging in my closet. There have been a couple times when I have challenged myself and put a pink shirt in the middle of the blues and then I try to walk away...there is an unseen force that I can't control that makes me turn around and put the pink shirt back were it belongs.
2) I sing random songs to the beat of the running dishwasher.
3) There isn't a morning that I wake up and am excited to face the day. Grrrrrrr! Mornings...bahh humbug! Sleep is so special to me and I don't get near enough of it.
4) I drink milk straight from the carton. It's a nasty habit I learned from my dad and much to James' sorrow I have now passed it on to my kids. You may want to bring your own milk jug if you come to my house for breakfast!
5) I still don't know my left from my right, and have to make the two L's with my hands when driving and someone instructs me to turn left.
6) There are many times when I think about something and then in the next second or two it actually happens. I don't know if this last one makes sense, but it happens a lot. Once when I was working as a bagger at a grocery store in high school I was coming around a checkout counter to help a customer and in my mind I thought, "I am going to fall," and then my next step was onto a paper bag on the floor and I slipped and fell flat on my face.

I am cheating by not tagging 6 people, just post this to your blog and let me know if you did so I can read your random things! Let me know I am not the only weirdo!

OWWWW, new shoes and blisters!!!

I know, I know, you don't want to look at pictures of my feet...but I must show you what my new shoes and training for this half marathon have done to my poor feet. I have 11 blisters on my feet! 11!
I ran 11 miles today (maybe that's why I have 11 blisters, one for each mile!) and while I do feel really good and proud of myself I must whine for a minute about my sore feet! So WAHHHH! Feel sorry for me, and say a little prayer for me cause my race is only a week and half away! Can't wait!
