My lovely Kylee!

Kylee always has been a very strong-willed child, from day one. She came out knowing what she wanted and wanting what she can get. I think that is a pretty typical first child attitude. But let me just tell you how grateful I am for this little girl!
I am loving summer and loving her being home. She is the light of my life.
I really do have to work hard at getting along with her and not letting her push my buttons, but I really enjoy her. She is very smart...(thanks to her daddy for giving her his brains), kind (she says the sweetest things and is sensitive to other people). I don't know what I would do without her to help me with Malia. She will hold her and play with her when I need her to. She is often sharing her things with her younger siblings, and teaches Tyler and Baily all sorts of things. I ask her to do so many favors for me and there isn't much (except to not complain at dinner time...which she does each and every night) that I ask of her that she isn't willing to do. I am grateful for my Kylee. Heavenly Father sure blessed me by sharing her with me!

"Da Da"....No, say "Ma ma"

You would think since I pretty much keep this cute little chubby thing alive by the milk from my own body...that the least she could do is say my NAME! She has been saying "da da" for about two months now. I will say to her "Ma ma, say Ma ma." She will look at me with those blue eyes, smile and say "Da da!" I think she does it on purpose. James likes to rub it in too. The other morning I was trying to get her to say my name and she looks over at him and he smiles at her and she says, "Da da!" Some day...she will say my name!

My crippled husband =(

A couple of weeks ago James sprained his ankle really bad in a soccer game. The week before that he thought he broke a rib playing soccer too. I told him he might want to reconsider playing soccer, but he is like me with volleyball...it is just in our blood, we have to play (obviously at any risk)!
Here is his foot. It is hard to see how purple it really is. It was swollen for about a week. Poor guy. Being able to take care of him has made me so grateful for all the times he has taken care of me...all 4 pregnancies...headaches...you name it. He is a very good at being a husband!

Thoughtful and loving. Authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. Thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

PEN IN THE EYE!!!

I have to tell you the crazy thing that happened this morning! I woke up to Kylee at the side of my bed at 6am. She was crying and holding her eye. She said that she had fallen out of her bed and hit her eye. I was still very out of it and kinda patted her back and gave her a hug. She was still crying and saying that she hit her eye. I told her to get a pillow and blanket and she could sleep on our couch that is in our room. So she went and got that and was still crying. Finally, and I don't know if it was that I was just so tired and wasn't hearing her right but she said, "Mom! When I fell a pen got stuck in my EYE!"

"WHAT!!!" I yelled and jumped out of bed and turned the light on. There was a mark about half an inch or less below her eye. She said that after she fell out of bed and realized she was hurt she came into our room. She was half way down the hall before she realized that a pen was sticking out of her face and she yanked it out! Can you believe that!!!

I inspected the wound and just stretched the skin out a little to see how deep it was and that's when I started to feel sick. For those of you who don't know I have the weakest stomach you will ever meet. I made it to James' side of the bed and was able to wake him up, saying that I needed him and that was the last thing I remember. I woke up a couple seconds later with my face in the carpet!! Yup, I fainted. James didn't know what was going on and Kylee is looking on in horror at her Mom on the floor. I mustered enough strength to tell James to check out Kylee's eye. I felt sooooo ridiculous. Here I am lying on the floor and I can't even take care of my poor Kylee. I sure wish I was stronger when it came to gross things like that. It wasn't even that big of a wound! I am a big dork.

Luckily Kylee's eye is fine. She might have some bruising, but she sure did get lucky. We realized later that she had landed on her art box that had a bunch on pens and pencils sticking out of it.

I will add this one warning- TRUST THOSE GUT FEELINGS, OR THE SPIRIT-AWLAYS-Because earlier that night I went to check on the kids and Kylee was on the edge of her bed. My gut told me to scoot her over but I didn't, thinking she would be fine. Arrgggg! ALWAYS DO WHAT THE SPIRIT TELLS YOU TO DO, EVEN LITTLE THINGS!!!

This is what Tyler does a hundred times a day! Seriously! Sometimes he practically pulls her out of my arms to kiss her.

The other day we told him he was going to his friend Will's house, who he absolutely adores, (the poor guy is surrounded by girls 24-7, so any boy time he gets is priceless.) He was jumping up and down because he was so excited. He ran like lightning out of the room and then all of a sudden did one of those cartoon stops...ya know...where you see smoke and skid marks...And layed a big wet kiss on Malia's cheek and said "I love you Mia's!" That is what he calls her. It was so cute. He is a great brother.

THE HOST

Okay, I just finished reading Stephenie Meyers latest book, The Host. For those of you who don't know she's the LDS author who wrote the Twilight series (the vampire books). It took me a while to get into the book and there were some slow parts, but I must say that I LOVED THE END, and loved the message that the book had to offer.

The book summed up the reason why being human is so extraordinary. I relate it to the plan of salvation and why Heavenly Father gave us our free agency. (and if your a parent you know hard that free agency thing is...letting your kids make their own choices...) Yes-there is a lot of evil, vile, mean things and people in this world, but being human, children of God is a wonderful privilege. If you haven't read the book this blog might totally confuse you, but I would totally recommend you read it. It was a great book!

Runway Model???

Look at this girl!!! I don't know where she learned to pose like that. I think it is just part of who she is...what a cutie!
She cracks us up and we are trying hard to chanel her strong-willed personality in the right direction.

Her daddy has already planned where the gun is going to hang on the wall for when the boys start to come around. It frightens me. She is going to live with my parents when she is a teenager. (I should probably talk to them about that...)Heaven help us!!!

CHUNKY MONKEY

Look at those beautiful rolls!!! Can you believe how chunky my Malia is?!!! It makes me laugh with joy. She is just the cutest thing.

We tried her new swimming suit on today and I just had to take pictures of her so we could always remember. She is such a happy baby and brings so much joy to our family. Can't get enough of those chubs...

Can you guess how many times a day those cheeks get kissed???

I LOVE MY MOM!!!

There have been so many times in my life when my mom has carried me through some tough times. She is the kindest, Christ-like, giving person I will ever meet, and for all of you who know her know that's true. I say all the time if could be half the person she is I will be in good shape!!!

We got together today with her and my sister Tami and my niece Ariel to tye-dye 4th of July T-shirts. We get together each fourth and spend all day together. My mom always tries to make it so fun. This year she bought us all t-shirts and helped us all make them. She is so patient and creative. They turned out so Cute! It was so fun to hang out with her, she is always so patient with the kids. I couldn't ask for a better MOM!!!

Family Pictures!!! SO cute

Here is a link to our latest family photos!

www.tkdesigncompany.com/hansen

The kids all behaved so well for them! Amazing! I have pretty photogentic kids...It was hard getting a real smile out of Tyler, but we all left from the studio alive, I didn't want to sell any of my children when it was all over. That is a very good thing!

We will be getting a CD with the copyright soon, so let me know if you want copies of any of the pics!!!
James and I are still plugging along!!

A little about James and I...James is going to start school again next week. The IRS is paying for him to take some classes, so that is what he will be doing, and working JUST ONE JOB!!! hip hooray to that!!! It has been so nice having him home more. We get to spend all morning and afternoon with him and then he goes to work at about 3:30. He is such a great husband and dad. I am so grateful for him. He's been doing a lot around the house, working hard in our yard, planting a garden, some beautiful trees and putting up a wooden fence in the front of our yard! It's so beautiful. He is a talented man.

I am keeping busy being a mommy. We also babysit two sisters (8 and 5 years old) they are good girls and it makes it nice to have some extra money. I am actually training to run a half marathon!!! I know...CRAZY!!! The marathon is in August.(13 miles) I ran 8.5 miles the other day with Tara, who is also running the half marathon for the second year in a row. It is crazy hard, but I am loving it and I love the feeling I get when I am done running. (besdies the throbbing of my shin-splints and burning thighs...) It has been a personal journey for me and I have done a lot of growing and strengthening (literally) in the process. I LOVE being a mom, LOVE being a wife, and I love all of you who took the time to read my blog!

Mommy, I am hungry!!

TYLER!!! I love having a son. From the day Tyler was born we have had a strong connection. I just GET him. His is SOOOO active! He makes me dizzy sometimes just watching him. From the moment his head is off the pillow in the morning until the time it's back on the pillow at night he is moving. He is growing like a weed, and I kid you not, he comes up to me every half hour and says he is hungry. He is so ready for Kindergarten. He is excited and wishes it was tomorrow that he was going. It will be a little easier sending him off to kindergarten than it was Kylee, but it still makes me sad. I don't like them being gone from me. I know he will do well and love it there.

My Girly Girls

My sweet girls. Kylee is 7, and of course acting like she is 17!!! She is out of school, which I love! I love having my kids home with me. Kylee loves being home too, she isn't too fond of school. She is very smart and sometimes I think she gets bored at school. She is growing up too fast. I try to spend as much time with her as I can and I am trying to teach her all I know (which isn't much). She is fun to be with and treats her sisters and brother so well. I don't know what I would do if she didn't help me with Malia while I made dinner!

Baily is 3 and POTTY TRAINED!!! Can you say HALELULLA!!!! (I sure don't know how to spell that word) She has been quit the little stinker with potty training. She would hold her pee in all day long and never release the pee until evening time and then she would flood the floor. It was very frustrating. We would spend a lot of time sitting on the potty, singing songs, chanting "Let my pee pee go!" But no matter what we did, no amount of candy offers or sticker charts could get her to pee in the toilet. So I just gave up and decided she would pee when she was ready. Well, she woke up this last Saturday and decided that she was going to pee. She peed that morning and has been potty trained ever since, I am talking totally trained. Poop, night time, everything. Not one accident. Dont ask me how it happened! She has become a sweet girl. She is very smart and pleasent most of the time. She is fun.
Malia Ann, AKA:angel!! This is the sweetest, most content well behaved baby in all the world. James and I wonder every day what we ever did to deserve our Malia. We think that about all our kids, of course!!!Malia has been such an amazing addition to our family. She is in such a fun stage now, sitting up on her own and smiling at everyone and everything. It's no secret that the girl is chubby!!! At her 6 months checkup she was almost 20 pounds! She is short for her age, so all that lovely chub just looks chubbier! What can I say, isn't she beautiful!!! She is our gift from a very loving Father in Heaven.

We have a family blog!!!

I feel like we are the last people on earth to get one!!! It's been fun settin' it up and can't wait to keep you all posted on the Hansen home and all the messes we are getting ourselves into!!!
